It is easily arguable to say that this is the best Medify air purifier as opposed to the one above. The only reason the MA-40 edged out the MA-50 is because it is more affordable. The MA-50 is clearly the premium air cleaner, especially for those with allergies or anyone looking for the best possible air filtration.

H13 True HEPA Plus UV Light

UV light has long been used in air purification in addition to traditional filters. Some industrial air scrubbers have even started to use UV light for restoration and renovation use.

With its combination of 3-layer filtration and UV-C light, the MA-50 is adept and removing smog, smoke, pollen, pollutants, virus, allergens, odors, pet dander and just about anything else that might pass through it. Four fan speeds are available, and the unit boasts a quiet 35dBA on its lowest setting. On the highest fan setting, noise is a very respectful 56 dBA. We think the low noise level is a byproduct of the 4-sided filter design. Those filters seem to be also reducing noise from the air purifier’s motor and fan.

Filters for this premium unit run around $60 or $70. For the level of air purification the unit provides, it is reasonable. Filters are expected to last 2,500 hours which Medify says is about 3-4 months for the average user. But, for homes wanting the best level of protection, that’s probably not much of a concern.
